Why do parking lots stink?

Imagine, you’re sitting on the deck at your favorite restaurant and you see your food headed towards your table. You know it’s going to be great, so you try to inhale through your nose, hard enough so that you can smell it. But wait! 

It’s a hot day and all you can smell is the parking lot around you. Now, you have a headache and you are sick to your stomach. Dinner is the last thing you want to think about.
